Teacher Appreciation Week is probably one of my most favorite times of the year. I love having a week set aside to acknowledge the hard work teachers put in day in and day out. Teachers sacrifice time away from their families, they spend their own money on supplies for the classroom, and they do it because they have dedicated their lives to putting children first. In honor of all teachers do TPT is throwing a Teacher Appreciation Sale! Tuesday and Wednesday this week, everything in my store will be 20% off. Use the code CELEBRATE at checkout for an additional discount! It's time to move all of those items from your wish list into your cart! You deserve it! Well summer has finally arrived! Sort of anyway. I will be in lots of trainings this summer as I prepare to leave the classroom and take on the role of Instructional Coach for K-5 math and science on my campus. I am so excited to start this new chapter of my career and look forward to all the rewards and challenges that this new job will bring! I am leaving my blog name in tact for now...but you may be seeing a change in the future. I am still deciding if and what to change it to should I decide to do so. I will say though that I am looking to expand my products beyond the primary classroom! Between a new baby, a new job and starting grad school...there hasn't been much creating going on in this household lately. Well I take that back...there has been lots of starting, just not a lot of finishing! But I did manage to knock out this mega unit I've been working on for what feels like forever! You'll have to excuse my absence from blogging the last month or so but I think I have a pretty good reason!
Our pretty little princess decided to make her entrance into this world a week earlier than expected. Kinley Elizabeth Dawson was born at 12:18 p.m. on Friday, April 11th. I can even begin to express how grateful I am for this little blessing God has given us. I am so thankful that He chose us to be her parents. Our family is complete and our hearts are full.
I do plan to return to the blogging and TPT world soon! Just not too soon!

We are coming up on our Texas Independence Day celebration this week. The holiday falls on Sunday this year but we will be spending this entire week learning and celebrating Texas history. If you're from the great state of Texas and looking for some activities then check out my Texas Our Texas packet in my TPT store! Here is a look back at some of the activities we did last year.
We learned about Stephen F. Austin and his contributions to our state. The kids then completed this writing activity where they wrote about important facts.
We learned about many of the state symbols of Texas. The students then completed their own state symbols book.
We did lots of writing activities throughout the week. Here we read Armadillo Rodeo and they wrote about what they would do if they were in a rodeo.
We read the Armadillo from Amarillo. The kids made their own Armadillos and wrote about places in Texas they would like to visit.
We read The Legend of the Bluebonnet. The kids then got to make their own bluebonnets using finger paint. They used their pointer finger to create the stem. They then used thumbprints to make the petals of the bluebonnet.
We studied the Texas Flag and discussed the colors and their meaning. We even compared the Texas Flag to the United States Flag. The kids then got to make their own torn paper flag.
After reading The Jalapeno Man, the kids made a list of their favorite spicy/hot foods.
Our littles have their Texas program on Tuesday and then we are having our annual Kindergarten Rodeo on Friday! Hopefully this year I'll make it out there with my camera to snap some pictures! If you're interested in any of the activities you see here then click on the image below to check out the unit in my store!
