Summer Reading Institute

I had the pleasure of attending a four-day workshop in Bryan this week called the Summer Reading Institute.  I am always eager to attend a quality training.  I just really enjoy professional development.  As teachers we often say we want to instill in our students the desire to be life-long learners.  Well thank you to BISD and all the teachers I had growing up because they did just that.

I learned some great ideas for teaching non-fiction/fiction text pairings so I will be posting about those as they come up throughout they year!

I am almost finished in my classroom.  The hubby and I are headed up there tomorrow for some last minute touches.  I plan on taking my camera so I can post some pictures this weekend.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer break!  If you have an ocean-theme in your classroom then check out my Under the Sea Classroom Pack on TPT.  Click the picture below to visit my store.

I am still working on student binder packets and a post on my behavior plan!  I haven't forgotten I promise!  A back-to-school unit is also in the works so consider following my blog to stay updated on any new projects!

  2. Thanks Ashley! I mostly use graphics from Scrappin' Doodles and fonts from KevinandAmanda.com. I make everything in powerpoint and then convert to pdf. It's very easy one you get the hang of it but can be quite addicting!
