We did an activity called Buried Treasure where I buried several magnetic objects in a tub of sand. Students used forks to comb through the sand and find objects to test with their magnet. They record the magnetic objects they found on their recording sheet.
The next day we did an activity called Does it Stick? I gave students a container of objects and a magnet. They had to test each of the objects to see if they stuck and then circle yes or no.
They also took home a homework assignment where they were asked to locate magnetic objects in their house and record them on their recording sheet.
On the last day of our unit we made our Inspector Magnets! He's a spin-off of the childhood favorite Inspector Gadget. The kids had to help him solve the magnet mystery by testing several objects and only gluing the magnetic ones on their Inspector.
I used the templates from my magnet packet and then cut out rectangular strips for his hat. They turned out super cute!!
All of the above activities, templates and more are included in my Magnets packet. Click the image below to check it out!
We are celebrating our 100th day this week and gearing up for our dental health unit coming up soon. We will be using lots of activities from the packets pictured below. Click on either image to check them out!
